Better User Portal Integration
I really like the Portal Users option which is now available, but I think this should be taken a step further and integrate a user login system based on the email address we setup during the "New Customer" flow.
I would say maybe have a switch to be able to turn on "Online Account" access which would trigger an email with steps to create password or send a temp password.
Another way to accomplish this is to have a "New User Activation" front end script for clients to be able to access their account by entering their email address and telephone number then the system would make them create password.
The bottom line is that using ticket number and last name makes sense for a quick repair status check but I think to fully wrap around all the account related access the client has while using the portal, having them have a static way of accessing their info like I mentioned, makes more sense.
This is live, you’ll see a checkbox on the New Customer form to send an invite.

This looks like a perfectly good solution here @Troy. Any update on timescale? As it stands we need to create the portal user unless I am missing something... ?

I agree that the portal is seriously lacking security, if you are not using the first name last name field "which we don't for businesses", then all you need is the ticket number to log in and see everything that company is doing, I have many customers that if they new this would be seriously upset, I am hoping a revamp and better security of the portal is coming very soon. I love it and like my customers to have this, just needs to be better thought out, more secure and way easier for client to control the login info
Thanks,

This is a great suggestion. I currently don't advertise the user portal due to the enormous amout of clicks need to setup the user and then not being able to verify if they are even using it. A "New User Activation" is a great suggestion as it will confirm that the user has taken the steps to enable web portal access and at the same time improved on the efficiency of our workflow.

The current system is VERY INSECURE as it is now. The ticket labels that print or even the tickets/reciepts etc that we give to clients allow anyone to look at their details online via our website (repairshopr details). Currently Ticket number and last name. It would be nice for a more secure portal.
