Gocardless for UK
Well the way we used it on quickfile integration was in customer section for a particular customer click on setup direct debit. Then it would send an email to their email address. They create a login and provide bank details.
Then direct debit is enabled for that customer. You could set recurring invoices to take payment automatically but also there would be a button to take payment for one off invoices when you need to. So I think they did it the same as you as quick file sorted the recurring bit and took payment for you as and when you set. I've never gone direct to gocardless and set a plan there although I know you can.
I believe you get a cut of each payment too (don't quote me) but the fees are so cheap too. Beats PayPal hands down on fees - I haven't used any others but with costs fixed and capped at £2 its worth looking at. I don't mind beta testing either. Its the only thing missing from the package for me at the moment lol.
Please check it out @ https://gocardless.com/features/api/ - in the meantime is there any other solutions you think of?
Us UK folk need a way to collect payments especially for recurring invoices and managed services. I'll get other uk techs interested in repairshopr to vote as this is one feature that's critical :)
We are still holding off on this, it would be great if we could also find a partner/integration that can do one-time payments easily that support EMV that would could build into the POS – and not only the recurring invoices.

Oh and 1% capped at £2 is not to be sniffed at!

Now coming stateside and many many other countries (look at the bottom link - currently viewing!)
I don't think there will ever by an all in one approach from what I've seen!

Adyen are excellent at providing an API for card payments and then sell several different card terminals. We use one with Revel POS currently in the UK. There rates seem very decent too. Another one is iZettle, they offer card terminals for use in the UK and provide reasonable processing fees, they get better the more you spend of course.
We could not consider switching from our current POS and ticketing system until RS had a proper integrated way of taking cards over the counter. -

Hi Troy, just to add my thoughts (again) on this one. GoCardless is really big in the UK because:
1) of it's low fees
2) one-off-payment capability
3) payment button integration on invoices
4) APi capabilitiesWhilst it's not got hundreds of votes here, it has considerably more than a lot of ideas already on the 'planned' list - which surely means that people are asking for this.
There's a lot of integrations out there, I know, and whilst the US market is obviously your main target area it does feel a little one sided - there are almost no integrations for those of us in the UK.
RepairShopr is a great solution, growing all the time and I don't even mind not being able to reclaim VAT on your bill because it's a really competent solution and one which we feel on the whole listened to, but it feels a little like you're waiting for someone to invent the wheel first to satisfy the ideal solution of taking your goods to market - sometimes, you just have to load up the horse :) -

Stripe looked almost there until they categorically turn down anyone doing IT services. I'll post whatever I can find. You want chip and pin option too? We use izettle for that.

That's a fair shout if there is an all in one solution I'll keep looking but haven't managed to find one yet. I mean once authorised you can take one off payments for invoices (not just recurring) but it doesn't directly support card payments, just debits from bank accounts (and it takes about a week to hit your account). So really what you want is something like authorize.net but without the massive fees and minimum spends that their merchant accounts tried with me :)

May i just say that GoCardless is massive in the UK and is fantastic for businesses like ours taking direct debit payments, i know you would like to have a integration built into your POS software but a lot of business's including us have a over the counter normal EPOS system and do not use the repairshopr pos. I think a lot of customers using repairshopr for recurring invoices etc are suffering the mammoth task of keeping track of payments and marking them paid once a direct debit payment has been taken etc. If this was integrated i think you then have another fantastic selling point for getting more customers using this fantastic software, especially for us in the UK.

@Troy
EMV and DirectDebit, at least in the UK, are completely different services.
With GoCardless you can also take one off payments from clients using "paylinks".

@robert, any update on this? It's been a while since it was under review, and Gocardless have released their "pro" API for all now.

Hi, is there any updates on this as it would be a great feature.
-

Would be nice to get this feature early in 2016. New financial year starts in April - would be super cool to have this automatically getting all the recurring revenue in so we can concentrate on growing our business instead of chasing payments - plus, it looks like GoCardless has the US ear-marked for business soon looking at their growth map - then all you Techs in the US could also say bye bye to crazy high fees

Any update on this? To complete the whole package would be a gocardless integration! So cheap to use and works perfect!

Just gone through 35 odd people checking off their gocardless payment :( and then manually took another 5 manually for outstanding bills.
Got some more UK techs signed up so we'll get them to vote too! :P

This would be so useful! I've just manually gone through and marked about 50 invoices off that are paid using Gocardless.
@Robert Reichner - any update since July??

Hi @Matt Ed
We got put with a expensive solution with minimum spends and all kinds of stuff.
Gocardless however is so so so cheap. With preauthorisation all recurring invoices (or new invoices) could be collection automatically and marked as paid in the invoices system.
Quickfile (accounting) had it integrated and it worked great (could also collect outstanding amounts at a push of a button).

@Sam James - Authiroze.net works fine for us in the UK. We settle it to a Worldpay merchant account. authorize.net costs us £24.00 per month and then our normal card fee's from Worldpay.

At the moment I'm doing it manually with gocardless :) would be useful to be able to automate monthly payments as well as give the offer to pay one off - the fees are so cheap!

Great news.
I was looking at using Xero then integrating to Gocardless that way. A bit messy but Authorize.net fees + the compulsory merchant fees were a bit too high for us.
Keep us posted. :D
