Inventory Count (stock take module)
It would be nice to have an option for the store manager to conduct a blind inventory count. They could enter in skus and the number of the inventory they have and it could generate a report of it compared to what is supposed to be on hand. It could then give the option to generate adjustments in the inventory.
Hey – thanks for voting on this everyone, we have a beta of this out and the final will probably be live for everyone around December 1st 2015.
If you are a beta tester, please find the new link to Stock Take on the admin page, or inventory page. Try it out on a small subset of products.
There are a couple modes for entry currently. You can just barcode scan from mobile or laptop/etc, you can search for a product and type in how many you have, or you can use the onscreen keypad (ipad?).
Let us know if there is another method you’d like to see to speed things up!
The FAQ page will be ready shortly.

Fully integrated Repair Shopr this year and the Stock Take definately needs some changes. I inventory my entire small store and found it extremely frustrating to have to scroll all the way down the page to see if an item scanned. The recently searched item don't need to be there in my opinion. I want to see what is scanning rather than what was searched. Also, it would be nice to just scan the item once and enter the count. The manually search function with it's big ole numeric keypad is kind of silly.
Just as a though. Think of an Excel Spread sheet. Let the first cell in a row be for either the scan or manual search option. Cell 2 would populate with the description. Cell 3 would show Inventory on hand. Cell 4 would be where to enter the physical count. Cell 5 would be the difference in the count +/-. Cell 6 would represent the value change in the physical count based on cost. -

First this is how my current POS takes Inventory. Items are entered under description. This shot auto filled all of my inventory items to be counted. It shows QOH, The Physical Count, The VAriance (over/under system count), cost of items, and Total. The box below under total is the Total Variance of whatever you are counting. It is adding or taking away the actual Dollar amount from inventory.
As others stated, for accounting purposes, Reports need to be made available to show if we lost or gained inventory. My system puts this into quickbooks by adjusting inventory dollar amount, and entering a Inventory Discrepency expense. -

This is definitely a step in the right direction. A few initial thoughts below...
It needs the capabilities to list the SKU's that should be counted. So when you click on New, it then asks which catagories you would like to count. You could pick phones, parts, accessories (whatever catagories you have created). Then it would generate the SKU and it can just be scanned in order. This give you the ability to count high cost items more often then cheap parts. Also makes sure they don't miss any SKU's during the process.
It would also be very nice to have a report of the changes done, both number wise and cost wise. That way Monthly you can just run a loss report and see the numbers for what was taken out.
I am very thankful this was added, it will be a huge help on the inventory side.

Miss-spoke, the beta is probably working for big-chains - let us know if you find otherwise :)

It would be great to be able to take a random sample of inventory (say 25 items or so) to see what is on the shelf vs. what should is reported in the system. It would take a very long time to scan in all of our inventory to see what is incorrectly being reported or missing. It is good to do a full inventory count once per quarter or a couple of times per year. The random sample is a great way for a manager to keep an eye on inventory.

It needs to show a summary of what was counted vs what is on hand. On hand qty should be hidden during physical count.
Barcode scanning would be an excellent option as a way to "count" on hand inventory. That you can scan everything and the get a report of scanned vs system reported on hand qty.

Is this related to the tying RMAs to inventory? RMAs always need accounted for too. It's so super important when doing inventory. There needs to be an acknowledgement of RMAs in the summary

if it could also calculate a inventory report that shows all the adjustments made along with the $ amount total of lost/added items that would be helpful.

My Current POS calls it a Variance. It has multiple ways of setting it up. First you can prepoplulate your entire INventory and either make a printable copy or you can scan. I generally use it with scanning barcodes to bring the items up. It shows what the POS says I have as far as Quantity On Hand and a column to enter in the physical count. It will show any difference in quantities based on Cost of products. Once inventory is completed, I can save to finish later or Post it. System also tracks the last time any products were counted.

I second this. Counting inventory is a very important part of our store.

We have a first version of this built internal and are looking at how it will integrate with our upcoming inventory improvements over the coming month or two.
