Convert estimate into a ticket instead of an invoice
I think estimates should ONLY be able to be turned into a ticket, not an invoice. Why bill for something if you may end up changing the final bill (especially when standard tech's don't have the privilege to delete invoices). After all, an estimate is just that; an estimate. Plus, how do you properly track an invoice with no ticket? Here are the two scenarios:
Customer wants a quote for a repair, before bringing in their equipment. You make them an estimate and they leave. They are happy with the estimate and come back with their equipment, you pull up their estimate and convert it into a ticket. Now that you have a ticket, you can keep track of it and work on it in order. Finally, when the ticket is finished, THEN you make an invoice. That way, if the ticket was unfixable, you don't have an approved invoice (that your techs can't delete) that is incorrectly billed.
A customer wants to get a quote on buying something, like a custom computer. You give them an estimate and they leave. If they decide to approve your estimate, you pull up the estimate and convert it into a ticket. Now that you have a ticket, you can order parts, assign the project to a tech, and complete the job. And if you want, you can even invoice them immediately, before ordering parts or doing any of the work to ensure you are paid first. Otherwise, after the work is done, you can correctly invoice the order.
This has been live for a while.

Am I missing something on this? I click New Ticket on an Approved Estimate, and it creates a new ticket, without pre-populating any details.

Hey Jeff - this is done, it's the "New Ticket" button on estimates

How is the "Create Linked Ticket" coming along?

Great. Yes, I think our plan would be the "Create Linked Ticket" button for now.

Thanks Robert. I actually see this as less critical now that I found you can link estimates to tickets manually by clicking on "change estimate" and selecting the "linked ticket" from the drop down. I no longer think you should /only/ be able to convert an estimate to a ticket; but still think there should be a "create linked ticket" button inside of estimates (in the event they are not already linked to a ticket).
