Allow duplicate email address between customers
Many of my residential customers are also business customers, and many of them use the same email address for personal and business email.
Any Update on this!!!!
We have several customers with multiple locations, for which they want to be billed separately. The only way to achieve that, is to create each location as a new customer. The primary contact for those locations/customers should all be the same. That is currently not possible since the names and emails can't be duplicated. Would appreciate a fix for that!
This would be a great help to our shop. Any status on making this happen?

It's been almost 2 years guys, surely you can give us an opt-in checkbox to allow duplicate emails across customers, and just skip this check if such a setting is positive??!? Such a tiny amount of work on your end would save a lot of hassle for many dozens if not hundreds of your customers, including likely some of the larger ones.
The only reason it would be more difficult is if you were using the main contact email as a primary key in a DB, but that would be silly, right?
I've just been burnt by this as I tried using the format "email@example.com" to work around your flaw, which works for some email services (ignoring everything after the +) but not this particular one it seems.
Is there an update on this one?
Most of our customers are okay giving an email address. Some don't want to. Some don't even remember what their email is. This causes an awkward delay in the interaction.
Our options are to turn off the requirement to get an email account or to put in fake ones. We've been doing, "blank###@(co.com)." Even with most customers giving an email address this is quickly getting ridiculous and you spend a few seconds trying to find the earliest unused blank###. It would be so much simpler if I could just use blank@(co.com).

This hasn't been completed yet has it? Says planned, but this is from early 2015.

Somehow I think this is a great idea. I have clients with multiple locations and uses the same email on all of them.

I recently made a new topic regarding overall improvements to the Contacts system as a whole. My ideas cover lots of revisions, and (I feel) would solve the issue you're facing - while not requiring "duplicate" contact information to be entered. Please check it out here and vote if you agree:
We have multiple customers that have multiple business locations that use the same email address. Having the ability to create the multiple locations with the same email address would be very helpful in organizing our customer data base.- Agree to phone numbers as well.

This got 3 of my votes. I have many like this as well, am currently creating a work-around, but a way to do this would be nice. The same goes for their Phone Numbers (especially mobile.)

This has my vote. We have a lot of customers that scheduled house-calls or on-sites at their business. They only have one e-mail address (typically their business e-mail). We cannot distinguish the different addresses unless we create multiple customer entries for the same customer and we really need to have the ability to put the same e-mail address for each of those.

Same here. Just got done talking to support and this was one of our issues currently.
I would also like the ability to have a single email address for multiple Customers. I have some small businesses owned by the same person.`

We run into this all the time as well. There are some workarounds, but it would be nice.
