Gocardless for UK
Well the way we used it on quickfile integration was in customer section for a particular customer click on setup direct debit. Then it would send an email to their email address. They create a login and provide bank details.
Then direct debit is enabled for that customer. You could set recurring invoices to take payment automatically but also there would be a button to take payment for one off invoices when you need to. So I think they did it the same as you as quick file sorted the recurring bit and took payment for you as and when you set. I've never gone direct to gocardless and set a plan there although I know you can.
I believe you get a cut of each payment too (don't quote me) but the fees are so cheap too. Beats PayPal hands down on fees - I haven't used any others but with costs fixed and capped at £2 its worth looking at. I don't mind beta testing either. Its the only thing missing from the package for me at the moment lol.
Please check it out @ https://gocardless.com/features/api/ - in the meantime is there any other solutions you think of?
Us UK folk need a way to collect payments especially for recurring invoices and managed services. I'll get other uk techs interested in repairshopr to vote as this is one feature that's critical :)
We are still holding off on this, it would be great if we could also find a partner/integration that can do one-time payments easily that support EMV that would could build into the POS – and not only the recurring invoices.

Ok Now i'm not sure - Support told me authorize.net is USA only but it turns out they may support UK? Can someone confirm? Looks pricey though. If payment is taken in repairshopr then synced into quickbooks does it take into consideration payment fees (subtracted from customer paid amount to authorize.net)

As we know authorize.net is USA only. So I was told to check out Stripe...
Turns out if we provide any support to home PC users we can't use stripe. It's on their prohibited business list.. :(
"Hello Sam,
Thank you for waiting while I looked into this for you!
Our financial partners impose some fairly strict limitations on the type of businesses we can work with, and this business type has been found to be at a much higher risk of chargebacks than they are comfortable with supporting..
To be clear, this is not because there's a problem with your business. A few bad actors in the sector can unfortunately result in our financial partners being unwilling to accept the risk of providing credit services to this category of business. I'm sorry we can't do better for you, and wish you great success!
Best,
Elaine"So now I'll have to checkout how the quickbooks payments integration works and use that to collect payments until something else comes to fruition - but they are dragging their heels so I won't be able to provide any feedback (going to call them tomorrow)

We use GoCardless and it rocks. We've got authorise.net working well with RSR for portal card payments but the ability to add a GoCardless integration would be great for repeat revenues.

Also looking at this. We use quickfile for our accounting and that has gocardless integration - simply takes the money recurring or one offs at the click of a button :)
Unless we can use it via one of the supported invoicing systems?

Now we are marching through 2015 hopefully this is an option that could get considered again. We are also in the UK and GoCardless is the the only option we have to ensure regular, irregular amounts without the hassle of waiting for invoices to be paid.
The computer repair industry is renowned for Feast or Famine income and anything that smooths out the troughs and peaks has go to be a plus. In addition, anything we can automate makes us so much more efficient.

Any update on this idea from the repairshopr team?

We are not really catered for in UK

GoCardless is a brilliant Direct Debit payment system from the UK. We would love the ability to link recurring invoices to this payment system so that whilst the customer is present, we can setup the authorisation, then produce the invoice (or other way around! - whichever way it would work) and then that's it - no more hoping for payment on time, it's all done. We currently use the system through our accounting system, but this way, we can do the authorisation in-store straight away and know we are going to get paid on time, every time.
Ideal for contract services, web hosting, email hosting, SEO services etc
