Ability to send adhoc sms to customers
One feature that appears to be missing but would be really great to include would be the ability to send sms to customers. For example, sometimes we need to send an sms as well as email to advise a customer their order is now in stock and ready for collection. We send this info via sms to ensure that customers get this message. We have to use another system to do this as there appears no way to do this within RepairShopr. Any chance this feature could be included in the software?
Ad-Hoc SMS was completed. SMS Services must be enabled on the Customer Edit page, then you can click New > SMS on the Customer Detail page to send a SMS to a customer.

Was thinking about this earlier and indeed it could really do with rolling out. I would expect it be reasonably straightforward to create a simple link to a page allowing Mobile Number entry and SMS Text to be completed with a button?
Please can we push this through, along with possibly simplifying the standard ticket commenting as discussed elsewhere.

Messaging and status needs to be combined and simplified and indeed a simple, send a customer a one off update via sms button. Our old, in house system had this and its something im missing.
Its also got a list of statuses, and checkboxes to choose whether that status sends a default SMS and/or email. It works really well, removes most of the need to use canned responses and cuts down on button clicks significantly. Also, when looking on the ticket page, you see a ticket is on a certain status and know exactly what message a customer has received.
"Waiting on customer ex media" for instance, sends them a message reminding them to take in the drive they promised to bring in. At the moment I would need to make that status, set it to that status and then remember to send them a separate message on both email and sms boxes.
I see you can trigger emails on certain statuses but that seems to send multiple messages on an hourly basis (which will just annoy customers), but theres no option for sms messages.
If you could improve the triggering system to include sms and also set an option for a one off or hourly remind(why you would want this i dont know) that would solve part of my issue.

I agree, SMS send without email and also the ability to edit the number just for this one ticket.
We get different people dropping off repairs and it would be nice to be able to sms the person that dropped it off without adding them as a contact. -

Same here! I agree on that. Just another button to be able to send SMS only that doesn't require to send an email with it.

I agree. We use SMS all the time to communicate with clients. The ability to create an SMS manually, or have canned SMS messages I feel is a must.

I agree 1000% if we could send sms messages right from within the client record where add log "communication type" is...this would be very useful. Just add to the drop down list "sms message".
