Allow technicians to have access to open or close the registers on a user level
We have a couple of technicians that open and close the store. Currently only allowing admin access to the cash register is requiring our two managers to work 6 days a week since we are open Mon-Sat to open the register. If we cannot work nights that means we are not closing our register until the next morning and then have to close right away. This causes some inconveniences for our managers especially if they would like to take time off, vacation our other manager has to pick up the slack.
This should be live!

@troy
I've created a register to test it out and play with that but i will not need this feature. Now i'm trying to delete the register but nothing happens when i click on Delete under Admin - Cash Registers.
Any suggestions on how to delete the register? -
@ryan - we can add it to the change register page, we didn't see that comment when working on this. Thanks

Any plans on moving the options to outside of the POS module? We'd really like to disable that the same way as stated on the post from 11/7.

We didn't move the links, they are just behind permissions.. https://www.evernote.com/l/ADlOunf0mLtKWqYjq8-zIw6RT9qmGB1pW2o

Where is the option to open/close now?

We do not use the POS module. The permissions to Open and Close the cash register need to be where POS is not required.

@Troy - Great to hear! What is your plan of action to implement this? Adding the security level permission sounds most logical; but where do you put the option/button for the open/close action?
I really think it should NOT be in POS, that way we can still keep the cash drawer functionality, but won't necessarily need to use the POS feature. Obviously, there are many stores who don't use/need the POS option, but will still need to open/close the cash drawer for day-to-day transactions. Personally, I find POS is used more as a shortcut when a customer account/invoice would be more appropriate.
My suggestion is to put it in the upper right drop-down menu with the option to "Change Register". This seems to be the place for login/change actions, so it would be a fitting spot, IMO.

I Also think that the POS and open/close cash register could use some permission revision.
Besides, it'd be nice to be able to see the full form submission (not just the total). -

My input:
First off, don't make the "open/close drawer" a transaction on behalf of the POS. It makes blank invoices for $0.00 every time, all of which never get "paid", and have to be manually deleted - very annoying.
Aside from that, add the open/close drawer option a "user-specific" link by putting it in the dropdown when you click on your email address in the upper right corner. That's currently where all the user settings/menus are located, and since the cash drawer is based on your sub-admin level, it makes sense to have it's own button/link in there.
As a sub-factor to that idea, I still think the email address link in the upper right corner deserves its own "button", with all the options that are in the dropdown; and there's only going to be more with time. Mockup: http://i.imgur.com/Zz6MeE4.jpg?1

I would think allowing access on a user level or security group to the POS on the toolbar would work well. Then we can control who has access to the POS and we wouldn't be so worried about turning this module on. This way the other "technicians" won't even be able to see the POS module or have to worry about the new button on their toolbar showing up.

Makes sense. Any suggestions on where you would locate the open / close register then if there's a security setting for it? In the Invoice section? Or would you allow access to POS then?

Maybe this is more of giving more levels of "technicians" on the security level so we can determine what level each employee is and what they have access to.

We have not turned the POS module on yet because it seems that any technician can open and close the register from this module. Is there a way to control who has access to open and close so we don't allow all our "technicians" to have this access? We currently have 4 levels of "technicians" at our store including interns, level 1, level 2, and level 3 and we are trying to restrict this to only our level 2 or 3, since we wouldn't want our interns to have the ability to open and close the register.

Or maybe just allow portions of the admin area to be viewed on the user level or if you get a manager level in the security groups allowing access to some of the reports and/or cash register if needed.
