Categorize Inventory as Services vs Parts
Any chance you have plans to make services and parts have different fields in the inventory module. What I would imagine is having a drop-down before creating a new inventory item to choose "part" or "service". Depending on which you choose, there would be different available form fields.
As it is now, services need to have a blank quantity on hand to work properly. Also, parts need to use features like UPC code, vendor and bin#, but services don't need any of that. It would also be nice to have subitems and categories for inventory parts to help keep them organized.
I think the combination of sub-categories, Inventory tabs, and granular fields should speak to most of the requests here.

For inventory, I like having the ability to create "Categories" such as "Memory" and sub-categories such as "DDR2", "DDR3", etc. This way our techs can easily view all DDR3 memory we have in-shock.

We find it very hard to easily get to categories of products. For example there is no easy way to simply show products with the category of Hard Drive or RAM etc.
It would be great if there was a simple drop down of categories that then filtered the product list.

This would be a great addition to the software, in particular for 'labour' items; data recovery, emergency service, etc...

The ability to add any category would be great. Accessories, prepaid service, labor, etc.

This is a feature I would very much like to see come to light. While the inventory system is quite nice it does need some tweaks.
There are several services and labor charges that just should not be in the current inventory setup and it feels odd just making them work in there but that is the only current method so we have to go with it.
Frankly @Ryan seems to have put his perfectly.

Also option to categorize groups eg Hardware under Hardware tab etc and list parts alphabetically.
Easier then going through pages of lists....
