Partial Refund
Is there a way we can process a partial refund? Currently we have customers pre pay their service but sometimes it doesn't take as long so we refund part of it. can we some how manually enter in the number it should be? example customer pre paid $200 but we need to refund $25
This is live with our big round of POS updates.

We use authorize.net and I found that for a partial refund you have to wait until that days credit card transactions have settled. The next day the partial refund works fine. The only other way for us to handle this is to either refund in cash (no thanks) or to login to authorize.net and manually process the partial refund (i think).

This is not working for some reason. I need a good way to process a partial refund when applying a restocking fee. The original amount is $79. I choose Refund, then Partial Refund. And I put the amount I would like the refund to be. In this case $63.20. The error at the top tells me to make an amount less than $73.39, which it IS, so I don't understand. The refund does not process; however, a refund invoice is generated showing -$1xx.xx which is like double the amount. So, I'm confused as to what is happening here. I use Mercury/Vantiv which works seamlessly for a full refund, but I have to call them to apply a partial refund, and I don't have a good receipt to send the customer because it's all out of whack with the wrong numbers. Please help!

Thank you. Works. Can we do a partial quantity as well? I have not tested yet. Been a busy day.

I sort of figured out a way to work around it. We can refund partial quantity. However, you have to do the math for the specific amount to refund. For example, we have a 15% restocking fee so we refund .85 of the product... Then with stripe, we log in and refund the amount shown in repairshopr.. too many steps to make a mistake.

I really need this to be working. I make my customer put 50% down on all orders that I have to special order. So in the rare occasion I do have to issue a refund, I have to discount out the entire invoice, and then the refund button shows up. I still however cannot do it this way because the refund does not allow me to key in a manual amount and selecting the transaction doesn't change the amount either. So this leave me with the only option to use Authorize.net. Please lets get to work on fixing this. Having the proper tools to do my job is very important. Now I need to figure out how to correct the inventory stats.

I agree, in many circumstances a partial refund is necessary, Recently a customer purchased $350 in parts but returned $50 worth causing unnecessary issues.
